Statement on the statement of the Foreign Minister of the Port Sudan Authority
In a grave precedent that exposes the extent of foreign interference in Sudan’s internal affairs, the Foreign Minister of the Port Sudan Authority issued a public statement confirming that the Arab Republic of Egypt provides full support to the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) operating under the terrorist Islamic Movement, calling on their militias to continue the war under the umbrella of this support.
This statement cannot be dismissed as a passing remark; rather, it represents a direct and documented acknowledgment before both local and international opinion that external actors play an active role in fueling the conflict and obstructing all initiatives aimed at ending the war and paving the way to a comprehensive political process that stops the bloodshed and end the suffering of millions of Sudanese sons and daughters. Such a statement, by its very nature, constitutes compelling evidence in the realm of law and politics, and cannot be denied or circumvented.
Accordingly, we state the following:
First: We call upon the international community, particularly the United States of America, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, the United Nations, the African Union, and IGAD to treat these declarations with utmost seriousness and responsibility, and to put an end to any external support that prolongs the war and exacerbates the humanitarian catastrophe facing Sudan. The silence and disregard of such declarations would only encourage the continuation and escalation of the war.
Second: We ask: Where are the voices that used to denounce external interference in Sudanese affairs? Why have they remained silent now in the face of these dangerous declarations of the Islamists’ Foreign Minister regarding Egyptian support?
Third: We call upon the Arab Republic of Egypt, as a neighboring state, to support the efforts aimed at ending wars in Sudan and achieving peace that ensures the security and stability of the Sudanese people, as well as the security of the region and the world, rather than backing the terrorist Islamist Authority in Port Sudan to commit further violations and fuel the war, as stated in the statement of the Islamist’s Foreign Minister.
The Sudanese people who have been exhausted by wars and devastated by crises look forward to a fair and responsible stance from the region and the international community. A stance that places Sudan’s supreme interest above short-term agendas and narrow political calculations, and restores to the Sudanese their right to peace, stability, and dignified living.
History will not forgive those who contribute to prolonging this tragedy, nor will it absolve those who stand against the will of the Sudanese people for freedom, peace, and justice.
