Condemnation Statement on the Terrorist Airstrikes on Defenseless Civilians in West and North Darfur
In a continued campaign of heinous crimes against defenseless civilians, terrorist aircraft, operating under the orders of the leaders of the criminal Islamic Movement Army and the Port Sudan gang, carried out today, Sunday, a series of new drone attacks targeting innocent civilians in the city of Al-Geneina in West Darfur. The air raids also struck once again the Al-Zurq neighborhood and the market area of Saraf Omra in North Darfur State, resulting in the killing and injury of dozens of defenseless civilians, most of them women and children.
The Peace Government strongly condemns these flagrant violations and the deliberate targeting of civilians through drone strikes on populated areas, markets, and civilian facilities. It affirms that these repeated assaults are carried out under the direct orders of the leaders of the terrorist Islamic Movement organization. These ongoing hostile acts throughout the month of October have led to the deaths and injuries of hundreds of people, in barbaric scenes that constitute clear acts of genocide being perpetrated selectively against social and communal components in the regions of Darfur and Kordofan.
We once again call upon the international community, regional organizations, and human rights bodies to condemn these heinous crimes and to take immediate action to stop the repeated attacks on densely populated civilian areas that are devoid of any military presence, as such acts constitute a blatant violation of international law and the Geneva Conventions.
We affirm that we will not remain silent in the face of these grave violations against civilians. We will pursue the criminals through legal means and continue steadfastly until terrorism and terrorists are eradicated, ushering in a new era of stability and peace.
