Statement of Condolence and Sympathy
From: The Council of Ministers, Government of Peace
Date: October 17, 2025
With deep sorrow and grief, the Government of Peace received the tragic news of the horrific massacre committed by the militia of the so-called “Islamic Movement Army,” led by the criminal al-Burhan, using a drone strike in the Mazroub area of Kordofan. The attack claimed the lives of a number of the finest sons of our beloved nation.
The Government of Peace, on its own behalf and on behalf of all the peoples of Sudan, extends its heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathy to the bereaved families particularly the family of the late Prince and Nazir Suleiman Jaber Juma Sahl, Nazir of the Majanin Tribe, who was a symbol of wisdom and genuine leadership, and a pillar of social stability in the country.
Condolences are also extended to the family of Omda Abdel-Hafiz Abu Rakouk, who was a steadfast supporter of his people and community, and to the families of the martyrs Bukhari Mashawer Jaber Juma Sahl, Nile Ibrahim Jaber Juma Sahl, Mohamed Ibrahim Jaber Juma Sahl, Juma Mirdas, Aboud Haj Mohamed, Haj Ubaid, Mohamed Al-Sayyid, Khalifa Mufarih, Abdel-Baqi Faraj, and all the martyrs whose names we could not mention.
These martyrs were the backbone of their tribe and their community in Kordofan. Their deliberate targeting is an attack on our national identity and a stab at the heart of our tolerant social fabric.
This heinous crime will not go unpunished. It is part of a systematic campaign of atrocities perpetrated by the terrorist “Islamic Movement Army” against our people across Sudan. It constitutes a war crime, adding to its bloody criminal record.
In this painful moment, the Government of Peace affirms the following:
1. We pray for mercy upon the souls of the martyrs and stand firmly with their families and loved ones in this tragedy. They are sons of the entire nation, and we will work to provide them with all forms of support.
2. We will intensify efforts with regional and international partners to pursue the perpetrators of this crime and bring them before international justice as war criminals.
3. We will mobilize all available resources to secure civilian areas and protect citizens from the brutality of the terrorist Islamic Movement militia.
4. We reaffirm our unwavering commitment to the path of resistance and liberation, confronting this racist terrorist project that seeks to destroy Sudan and subjugate its people.
“Indeed, to Allah we belong, and to Him we shall return.”
