Condolence Message on the Passing of Former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga
The Prime Minister of the Government of Peace, Mr. Mohamed Hassan Osman Al-al-Taishi, on behalf of the Sudanese people, extends his deepest condolences to His Excellency President William Ruto and to the brotherly people of Kenya on the passing of former Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Raila Amolo Odinga.
Odinga was among the pioneers, who struggled for freedom, democracy, and the consolidation of pluralism in Kenya. Through his dedicated public service, he contributed significantly to Kenya’s efforts to help end the civil war in South Sudan and to achieve the Comprehensive Peace Agreement of 2005. During his tenure in leadership, he remained a steadfast supporter and advocate of the African peace agenda, whose foundations were laid by founding father Jomo Kenyatta. Kenya continues to follow this noble path, calling for peace and the cessation of wars across Africa and in Sudan, in particular.
With his passing, Kenya and indeed all of Africa has lost a true believer in freedom, democracy, pluralism, and the rights of peoples to live in dignity, as well as a firm believer in Africa’s ability to rise, lead, and achieve sustainable development, progress, and peace, through its vast resources and human potential.
Our heartfelt condolences go to his family, loved ones, friends, and all his companions along the path of struggle.
May his soul rest in peace and serenity, as he always called for peace throughout his life.
