The Return of the “Sukhoi”
Khalid Al-Ayser, Sudan’s Minister of Culture and Information, is nicknamed “the Sukhoi” by Sudanese people due to his wartime reputation for making fiery televised statements against UAE-backed militia (RSF) and its political allies. He is known for his courage and hands-on field executive leadership.
One of his most memorable moments was his response to the UAE airstrike on Port Sudan May 2025. He insisted on addressing the world directly from the site, speaking in front of the burning and exploding fuel depots.
Al-Ayser has worked as a journalist, correspondent, tv host, media executive, and event organizer in Sudan and UK. Sudan’s new Prime Minister, Professor Kamil Idris, has reinstated him in the Civilian “Hope Government.
