The Sudan Founding Alliance (TASIS)
Statement on the massacre at Zurug Market
In continuation of its crimes against the people of Sudan, the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) operating under the so-called terrorist Islamic Movement today, Thursday, 2 October 2025, committed a heinous massacre using Turkish-made “Akinci” drones. The attack targeted civilians in Zurug Market in North Darfur State, resulting from in dozens of deaths and injuries, the majority of whom were women and children.
The Sudan Founding Alliance (TASIS), while strongly condemning this horrific crime committed against innocent civilians in an area completely free of any military presence, affirms that the targeting of civilians is part of a systematic genocidal scheme and ethnic cleansing being carried out by Port Sudan’s “terrorist Army.”
We call upon the international community, regional organizations, and human rights advocates to condemn these atrocious massacres committed against innocent people in Darfur and Kordofan that constitute fully fledged war crimes, as well as flagrant violations of international humanitarian law.
We declare that we will not remain silent in the face of these crimes, and we will pursue all criminals and those complicit in them through legal action including the Turkish company Baykar, which is majority-controlled by the Bayraktar family. Its CEO, Lütfü Haluk Bayraktar, and its Chairman of the Board, Selçuk Bayraktar, bear direct responsibility.
