We welcome yesterday’s meeting between U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau and Senior Advisor for African Affairs Mossad Boulos and the Ambassadors of the member states of the Sudan Quartet: the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and the Arab Republic of Egypt. We also welcome the important outcome of the meeting and its affirmation that there is no military solution to the conflict in Sudan, which, constitutes a threat to regional and international security and exacerbating the humanitarian crisis facing civilians, which is considered the largest humanitarian tragedy in the world today.
While we reiterate our welcome for this important gathering , we call upon the governments of the participating Countries to intensify their efforts and exert greater pressure on both parties to the conflict to push them toward a ceasefire and to ensure the unhindered flow of humanitarian aid to civilians , and to engage in serious negotiations aimed at reaching a lasting, peaceful solution to the war.
